Kieth Merrill Academy award-winning filmmaker |
He won the Academy award in 1973 for his documentary feature
titled The Great
American Cowboy. He was nominated again in 1997 for his
documentary short subject Amazon.
He is voting member of the Academy and was once offered half a

He was raised in a tight-knit Mormon family, which was forced to
move every couple of years because his father worked as a
drive-in movie operator. All of the children worked in the
drive-ins. After seeing a documentary about the film Oliver!,

He began his film career in 1957 in
the transportation department of Republic Studios. He worked as
transportation coordinator on such critically acclaimed films as
the Academy Award™ -winning Ordinary
People. He worked as unit production manager on 1985's The
Color Purple, his first teaming with director Steven
Spielberg. His first producing role came just one year later on
another Spielberg film, 1987'sBatteries Not Included. In
1988, he co-produced the Academy Award™ winning Rainman,
and appeared as Raymond Babbit's guardian, Dr. Bruner. He won
his first Academy Award™ for producing Schindler's
List (Best

Moroni Olsen |
June 27, 1889 – November 22, 1954 Moroni Olsen was born in Ogden, Utah to Mormon parents who named him after the prophet Moroni. After having worked on Broadway he made his film debut in a 1935 adaptation of The Three Musketeers. He later played a different role in a 1939 comedy version of the story, starring Don Ameche as D'Artagnan the Ritz Brothers as three dimwitted lackeys who are forced to substitute for the musketeers, who have drunken themselves into a stupor. One of his most famous roles was the voice of the Magic Mirror in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Olsen died from a heart attack at the age of 65. He was buried in Ogden City, Utah Cemetery.
