Famous Mormons in Snowboarding

Snowboarding

Torah Bright "Religion is my life," says Bright, a Mormon. "It's hard when I am on the road because I go to church every Sunday." I can go six weeks and not make it because I am traveling or am in another country but I always have my scriptures handy and I read a lot. "It keeps me grounded and gives me a purpose to what I am doing."

Brandon Bybee Brandon served a mission in Tulsa

Brandon Bybee is a rider who has made his mark in videos and the magazines, not through contests. His part in Whitey's film "Destroyer" scored him his WX invite. Brandon grew up in Farmington, UT, riding with the infamous Jeremy Jones, J.P. Walker, and Mitch Nelson.  ESPN

Quote:
"I film with Whitey. I just film and take photos as much as possible. I don't have anything against contests at all. I just get real nervous. Plus I'm used to powder landings and when I get to these hard landings I get kind of nervous."  ESPN

Jordan Mendenhall Jordan is one of the most progressive riders on our team. He can destroy rails like no one else, show up and pull 1080s in the Park City pipe, and then hit the backcountry and pull tricks that blow your mind. Option Snow Boards

Jason Murphy

Murph grew up with a strong belief that there's more to life than life itself A belief of the Mormon Church, which has inspired him to do well in all things. After rebelling and distancing himself from the church for some time, he realized life wasn't the same without the support the church provides. He returned to his roots and went on his mission in Argentina. So many people thought he was crazy and throwing away a promising snowboarding career, but J told himself there's more to life.

Mitch Nelson Unlike most globe-trotting athletes, this sensational snowboarder has used his hard-earned notoriety to help as many people as humanly possible. An active member of the LDS Church, Nelson has used a combination of public speaking and what he calls "positive promotion" to become an active model for youths all over the state.
"It's important for kids to know that I'm LDS," he says. "You will never see a picture of me with a cigarette or a beer in my hand. Kids really pay attention to stuff like that." Desert News
